A series of five bronze statues of hands on granite stones in Jardin des Tuileries.

 

In 1996 Louise Bourgeois (1911 - 2010) created a set of 5 bronzes patiné on granite blocks.

'The Welcoming Hands' have been bought in 2000 and are installed under the trees on the terrace overlooking Place de la Concorde.

 

On the first block is a very small upturned hand.

 

The other four blocks display full-size bronzes of adults hands and lower arms. The hands are modelled by Louise herself and her assistant Jerry.
